Ocean City Musical – a free concert by advanced high school music students coming from the West Chester. The concert will be held on the Music Pier and last year more than 200 moms attended the event.

Upcoming Headliners in Atlantic City

A few exciting performers are coming to Atlantic City in the near future. Here’s a rundown of the big names.

Beyoncé has confirmed that she will be performing at Revel’s opening at the end of May. Mrs. Jay-Z will perform for three nights, May 25, 26, and 27, in Revel’s Ovation Hall, which only has space for about 5,000 fans. Expect this event to sell out quickly, if it hasn’t already.

The Beach Boys will be performing at the Event Center at Borgata on May 19 as part of their 2012 reunion tour. The tour will span 39 cities, and the Event Center, with a capacity of only 2,500 people, is one of the smaller venues scheduled.

Alison Krauss and Union Station will sing and saw on their violins at the Circus Maximus theater at Caesars on April 20. Krauss and her band have 26 Grammy awards between them, and although her music seems a little mellow for Atlantic City, she does play a mean fiddle.

The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s will welcome New Jersey’s beloved son, Pauly D, as a performing DJ. Jersey Shore star Pauly D was bestowed the honor of being #8 on a list of America’s top DJs by Vibe Magazine, and The Pool is providing him with a DJ opportunity beginning on March 31. A second date in April has been confirmed, with more to follow.

Post-Rodeo Hoedown at Resorts Casino Hotel

Resorts Casino Hotel is going country during the last weekend in March. Saturday, March 31 will be the second day of the second annual Atlantic City Boardwalk Rodeo, and Resorts is gearing up for the event with an exciting party that night. Starting at 10:00 p.m., Resorts will be having a hoedown, sure to be the Boardwalk’s biggest after-party to celebrate the rodeo. Dean Simmons is headlining at the Resorts Superstar Theater, and the after-party will feature line dancing, drink specials, and a “bar-b-que”.

Dean Simmons, the “Garth Guy”, will be playing his hit Tribute to Garth Brooks, so the music will certainly be familiar to country fans. If you don’t know any line dances, now’s your chance to learn them. The famed Naked Cowboy of New York City and the Naked Cowgirl will also be on the premises, performing in the Pro Bar and at Night Fever, as part of the after-party celebration.

Tickets are only $25 for the after-party, a cost which includes seats in the Superstar Theater. The rodeo itself takes place on Friday, March 30, Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1 at Boardwalk Hall, and a range of different showcases and events will take place. A kids’ camp is even available for ages 8 and up. Tickets for the rodeo range in price between $16 and $102.

America’s Next Top Dog Model To Be Held in Showboat Atlantic City

Showboat Atlantic City will be hosting the first ever America’s Next Top Dog Model, a best in show contest that is unlike the typical dog show. The event is sponsored by the Pet Stay program of Showboat Atlantic City and the winner will be the face and the first ever canine to receive a contract with the hotel and casino. After months of selection and processes, 6 canine made it to best it out in modeling rounds furry style.

The canine modeling search will have 3 rounds to showcase their individuality. The first round is an obstacle course which features twists and turns. The second round will show how smart the dogs are by identifying tricks and words from its humans. The final round will showcase the personality of the dogs based on costumes.

The 6 aspiring top dog models were Shelby; a Yorkshire terrier, Bella; a Mini Jack Russel Terrier, Christopher; a mix of Pug and Terrier, Chloe; a Morkie (mix of Maltese and Yorkie), Sebastion; a breed of huskie and shepherd and Nathan; a Duschund.

The coronation and awarding night will be held at the Showboat, Harlem Ball this coming March 3 from 1pm to 3pm. Soap Opera Stars Set to Descend on Bally’s Atlantic City

On Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th, Bally’s Atlantic City will host a plethora of stars from daytime soap operas and several events in their honor for Soap Opera Weekend. Actors from The Young and the Restless, including Michelle Stafford, Greg Rikaart, Stephen Nichols and others will be available all weekend long, and a foursome of actors and musicians from General Hospital will also be on call.

On Saturday, the Genoa City Conversations will take place at Bally’s Park and Garden Ballrooms with The Young and the Restless cast, including four Q&A sessions starting at 11:00 a.m. and hosted by Joyce Becker. Tickets to the Conversations are $40, and attendance is limited.

That evening, there will be a Meet and Greet Wine Tasting in the Bally’s Ocean Ballroom at 6:00 p.m. Soap opera actors will mingle with guests to answer questions and tell stories. This event is $85 and it, too, is limited.

At 10:00 p.m. in Bally’s Traymore Ballroom, the cover band Port Chuck will perform. The band is composed of four actors from General Hospital: Steve Burton, Brandon Barash, Bradford Anderson, and Scott Reeves. Naturally, the audience will get to hear a few good stories about life and work at General Hospital. Tickets range between $35 and $75.

Finally, on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., the Bally’s Ocean Ballroom will be the scene for a Drama Brunch, where soap opera stars will serve their favorite brunch dishes. Tickets are $85, but for the opportunity to see a soap opera star flipping an omelet, it’s a bargain.

Counting Down to the Opening of Revel

In just over a month, the all-new Revel casino hotel will open on a 20-acre site on the Boardwalk of Atlantic City. The hotel includes 6.2 million square feet of space, 2 nightclubs, 12 restaurants, and much more. Revel announced this week that it plans to open on April 2, some weeks earlier than planned. An invitation-only “soft opening” with false money will take place during the last weekend in March.

Included in Revel’s lineup of entertainment will be Ivan Kane’s Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub, which has been developed anew for Revel and is based on the same principles as Ivan Kane’s other nightclub ventures in Las Vegas and Hollywood. The club will include choreographed burlesque shows with highly trained dancers starting at 10 p.m., along with DJs and dancing through the night. Ivan Kane’s Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub was developed on the principle of “nightlife as art”, and Revel’s guests will undoubtedly benefit from this approach. Atlantic City’s reputation as a haven for nightlife makes it a perfect fit for Kane.

Michel Richard will be providing three of the restaurants to open at Revel: another location of his Central Michel Richard, The Breakfast Room, and O Bistro and Wine Bar. Richard has restaurants in Washington, D.C. and Las Vegas, and is a newcomer to the Atlantic City restaurant scene. The O Bistro will include a small plates menu with a mix of contemporary bar fare and gourmet dishes. The Breakfast Room, with seating for 120, will serve a wide variety of a la carte breakfast dishes, including an omelet bar and a grab-and-go option.
